  8.     1.    When using EDC, if the -t option was combined with the 
  9.         -s option, the path file would be removed but a new one would 
  10.          not be generated.  EDC would then have to scan the drives
  11.          the next time it was used.  The problem has now been fixed.

  18.     1.    EDC now uses just one path file for all hard disk
  19.         partitions, stored in the root directory of drive C.
  20.         This change improves the way the backspace key works
  21.         during speed searches, and should allow EDC to run 
  22.         faster  on large systems with many logical drives.  You 
  23.         can still access drives explicitly but the speed advantage 
  24.         won't be that great.   Floppy drives still have a separate 
  25.         path file for each floppy, and you will have to scan each 
  26.         floppy  disk to install the path file.

  28.     2.    When a directory was created, removed or renamed
  29.         on a drive locked out with EDNOSCAN, EDC would still 
  30.         try to access the path file.  This problem has now been
  31.         fixed.

  33.     3.    LS has been upgraded to work  with the new version of EDC. 
  34.         You should not try to use  an older version of LS with this 
  35.         version of EDC.

  42.     1.    READ will now allow you to pull in a new file without
  43.         leaving the program.  Pressing F4 will display the current
  44.         directory.  You can then use the arrow keys to select a
  45.         new file or a new directory.  You can start the program in
  46.         this mode by using a directory as an argument.  F2 and F3
  47.         can now be used to start and continue string searches.
  48.         The up arrow key now works like an up arrow key should.

  50.     2.    EDC has been completely reworked and can change to any
  51.         directory on any hard drive without using a drive spec.
  52.         EDC will automatically  scan your drives the first time it 
  53.         is run.  Unwanted drives can be locked out by setting the
  54.         environment variable EDNOSCAN to the letters of the drives
  55.         you want to ignore.  When displaying the directory tree,
  56.         EDC will now give you an opportunity to choose a directory
  57.         at the end of each page.  A new menu for matching directories
  58.         has been installed in both EDC and LS.

  60.     3.    FFIND can now locate files either by date or number of
  61.         days back.

  64.     4.    The short version and the enhanced version of DOSNIX now
  65.         have the same number.  This should make it easier for SYSOPS
  66.         to tell which is the newer version.  The short version will
  67.         be distributed as DOSNX20.ZIP and the enhanced version will
  68.         be distributed as DSX20.ZIP.

  74.     1.    READ.EXE will now handle files containing up to 30,000
  75.         lines.  This is a threefold increase from the previous
  76.         version.  A larger version, READXL.EXE, is included in
  77.         the enhanced version of DOSNIX which will handle files 
  78.         containing up to 100,000 lines.  READL.EXE requires 350k
  79.         of free memory to run.

  82.     2.    Speed has always been a problem with READ.  By using DOS
  83.         calls to read in the text instead of compiler routines, 
  84.         READ.EXE has been given a hefty speed increase which will
  85.         be apparent when doing text searches.  READXL.EXE will run
  86.         a little slower but still much faster than older versions
  87.         of READ.

  90.     4.    When attempting a case sensitive text search from the
  91.         command line, READ would abort with an "Invalid Option"
  92.         error.  When using the -f option to capture standard input,
  93.         text searches would not work.  Both problems have now been
  94.         fixed.
